Hyderabad: The SCR ticket checking drive collected Rs.30.53 lakh in penalties after detecting 4,121 cases of ticketless travel, irregular travel and unbooked luggage during a zone-wide inspection on August 3.
South Central Railway deployed 186 ticket checking staff across 169 trains in the Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions. The special drive targeted ticketless travel and other railway rule violations.
SCR ticket checking drive detects multiple violations
Officials identified 4,121 cases involving ticketless travel, irregular travel and unbooked luggage during the operation. Consequently, the Railway administration collected Rs.30.53 lakh in penalties.
In addition, officials fined 35 passengers Rs.7,300 for littering. They also imposed penalties of Rs.38,000 on 19 unauthorised hawkers. Furthermore, they fined two passengers Rs.4,000 for smoking on railway premises.
South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava commended the Commercial Department for conducting the special drive. He urged passengers to travel with valid tickets and follow railway rules to ensure safe and comfortable journeys.
He said ticket checking plays an important role in curbing ticketless and irregular travel. It also helps ensure comfortable journeys for genuine passengers. Moreover, it strengthens public confidence in the railway system.
