Hyderabad: Telangana Youth and Sports Week began across the state on Sunday under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika initiative. The government organised fitness and sports events to encourage youth participation and healthy lifestyles.
Ministers Vakiti Srihari, Ponnam Prabhakar and AP Jithender Reddy attended the inaugural programmes. Sports Authority Chairman Shivasena Reddy, Mal Reddy Ram Reddy and Sports Authority Managing Director Sony Bala Devi also joined the events.
Officials organised a Zumba programme at the LB Stadium Tennis Complex in Hyderabad. Ministers and officials participated in the session. They urged young people to adopt active and healthy lifestyles through regular fitness activities.
Telangana Youth and Sports Week features walkathon and competitions
The ministers and officials also flagged off a five-kilometre walkathon. The event promoted awareness on physical fitness, sports development and community participation.
The government said the celebrations would continue from May 18 to May 23 across Telangana. The programme includes sports competitions, fitness activities, awareness campaigns and youth engagement events in different districts.
The government said the Telangana Youth and Sports Week initiative reflected its focus on sports infrastructure and youth empowerment. It also aimed to build a healthier society through sports and fitness participation.
As part of the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika, the Government of Telangana has launched Youth and Sports Week celebrations across the state from May 18 to May 23 with the objective of promoting fitness, sports culture, and youth participation.
