Ponnam Prabhakar’s fitness challenge calls for daily exercise across Telangana

Hyderabad: BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar urged families across Telangana on Thursday to make physical exercise part of their daily routine. He called for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day to improve public health and encourage participation in sports.

Ponnam Prabhakar’s fitness challenge followed an invitation from Jubilee Hills MLA Naveen Kumar Yadav. The minister accepted the challenge and participated in the Khelo Telangana Bandhan programme.

During the event, he encouraged people to take up walking, running, cycling, yoga or other physical activities. He said regular exercise and sports were essential for building a healthy society.

Ponnam Prabhakar’s fitness challenge targets wider participation

As part of the campaign, Prabhakar urged participants to record 27-second videos of themselves exercising and share them on social media. He also asked participants to tag nine friends and challenge nine others to take part in the fitness initiative.

The minister extended the challenge to Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, the Transport Secretary, the TSRTC Managing Director and the Hyderabad District Collector. Through the initiative, he sought to encourage more people to include physical activity in their everyday lives.

Prabhakar said sports should not remain limited to competitions, achievements and medals. Instead, he called for physical fitness to become an essential part of every family, village and educational institution.

He also stressed the importance of introducing children to sports at an early age. According to the minister, students needed opportunities to maintain physical fitness alongside their academic activities.

Ponnam Prabhakar’s fitness challenge reaches educational institutions

Prabhakar said the government would intensify sports and fitness initiatives in educational institutions administered by the BC Welfare Department. He emphasised that encouraging students to participate in sports would help promote regular physical activity from childhood.

The minister also called for a broader fitness culture in which families and educational institutions encouraged people to exercise consistently. Sports Authority of Telangana officials Kannam Madhu, Suresh Kaleru and others attended the Khelo Telangana Bandhan programme.
