Government clears reappointment process for Anganwadi staff defeated in local body polls

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has approved the Anganwadi reappointment process for eligible Anganwadi teachers and helpers who resigned from their posts to contest local body elections and were subsequently defeated.

The decision offers relief to several Anganwadi workers across the state.

Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka took special initiative in pursuing the matter with the government.

Officials said the government examined the issue positively to provide relief to Anganwadi staff who lost their jobs after participating in the democratic process.

The decision applies to those who resigned to contest Gram Panchayat or Municipal elections but failed to secure victory.

Anganwadi reappointment to benefit eligible former staff

Under the government’s orders, authorities will review appeals submitted by affected Anganwadi teachers and helpers.

However, officials will consider reappointment only if authorities have not already filled the vacant post with another candidate.

The government clarified that only eligible applicants would qualify under the revised provisions.

Women and Child Welfare Department Secretary Anita Ramachandran issued the relevant orders.

Meanwhile, Minister Seethakka said the government was giving high priority to the welfare of Anganwadi staff as part of efforts to strengthen the Anganwadi system.

She described Anganwadi teachers and helpers as key partners in delivering services to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

The minister said the government remains committed to resolving issues affecting Anganwadi personnel.

Officials expect the decision to benefit many former Anganwadi workers who contested local body elections and lost.

Authorities will examine eligible applications under the prescribed rules and take up the reappointment process accordingly.
