Telangana launches mobile Anganwadi services for migrant children

Hyderabad: The Telangana government launched mobile Anganwadi services to ensure children living in areas without Anganwadi centres receive nutrition, healthcare and preschool education. Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) flagged off the first mobile Anganwadi vehicle at the Dr MCR HRD Institute along with Labour Minister Vivek Venkatswamy.

The first vehicle will serve Indiramma Colony in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. The Women and Child Welfare Department developed the initiative with support from the Labour Department.

Mobile Anganwadi services target migrant families

Seethakka said children are the nation’s greatest asset. She added that they would play a key role in achieving the Telangana-2047 vision. Therefore, the government aims to ensure that no child remains outside the Anganwadi system.

Meanwhile, the minister said children of migrant workers often miss essential welfare services. This is especially true for families that move to cities such as Hyderabad for work. Therefore, the mobile units will visit such habitations and deliver services directly.

Additionally, the vehicles will provide nutritious food, health check-ups, growth monitoring, preschool education and maternal and child welfare services. Each unit can deliver services equivalent to nearly 10 Anganwadi centres. It can also benefit around 300 people.

Further, Seethakka said the government designed the initiative to take welfare services closer to people. She added that the government under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had given top priority to the holistic development of every child.

Women and Child Welfare Secretary Shruti Ojha, Joint Director Moti, Medchal-Malkajgiri District Welfare Officer Sharada and senior officials attended the launch.
