Hyderabad: The Fast Track Special Court for POCSO and rape cases in Ranga Reddy district convicted an accused in the Pahadishareef POCSO case and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
The conviction relates to Crime No. 96/2023 registered at Pahadishareef Police Station under Sections 366, 344 and 376(2)(n) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5 read with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
After completing the trial in Sessions Case No. 125/2024, the court found the accused guilty on all charges.
Pahadishareef POCSO case ends with conviction
The convicted individual was identified as Rajendra, 35, a labourer who resided in a rented room at Sriram Nagar Colony. He originally belonged to Rajola village in Basavakalyan taluk of Karnataka’s Bidar district.
The Fast Track Special Court at L.B. Nagar, presided over by Judge M.K. Padmavathi, delivered the verdict.
In addition to the 20-year prison sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict.
Furthermore, the court awarded victim compensation of Rs 3 lakh in recognition of the trauma suffered by the survivor.
Pahadishareef POCSO case highlights coordinated investigation
Police said the conviction resulted from coordinated efforts by investigators and prosecutors.
Investigating Officer P. Laxmikanth Reddy, who was serving as ACP Maheshwaram at the time of the investigation, handled the case. He currently serves in the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Hyderabad.
Additional Public Prosecutors Shoba Rani and P. Satyanarayana represented the prosecution during the trial.
Court Duty Officers E. Venkatesh, Vivek Reddy and G. Harichandana assisted with court proceedings. Meanwhile, Narasimha, S. Sriramulu and G. Ravindar handled summons and warrant execution.
Police also acknowledged the contributions of P. Shobha and G. Mahender in briefing and coordination activities.
The Hyderabad City Police and Pahadishareef Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children.
Officials said they remain committed to ensuring accountability and securing justice in cases involving child victims.
