Hyderabad: A Fast Track Special Court at L.B. Nagar on Monday sentenced a POCSO convict sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2020 case registered by Pahadishareef Police. The court also imposed a fine of ₹20,000 and ordered ₹1 lakh as compensation for the survivor.
The convicted person, Saadangi Venkatesh alias Sadula Venkatesh, a 25-year-old labourer, was found guilty of kidnapping and repeatedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl from Raviryala village in Ranga Reddy district.
According to the prosecution, the case began on February 10, 2020, when the girl’s family reported her missing. Police initially registered a missing person case before tracing the girl during the investigation.
POCSO convict sentenced after 2020 investigation
Investigators established that the accused had kidnapped and sexually assaulted the minor. Based on the evidence placed before it, the Fast Track Special Court convicted him under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said the conviction resulted from the coordinated efforts of the investigating officers, public prosecutors and court staff who handled the case.
