Hyderabad: Rajendranagar Zone DCP S. Srinivas on Monday reviewed Himayat Sagar safety measures ahead of the monsoon. He inspected the dam and nearby areas to assess preparedness for possible flooding and water discharge.
The DCP visited the site with police and irrigation officials. They reviewed safety arrangements after Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud opened one of the dam gates on Sunday during the annual pre-monsoon water release exercise.
Himayat Sagar safety plans reviewed
Officials discussed contingency measures in case heavy rainfall required the opening of all 17 gates to release excess water. They also assessed possible risks to residents living downstream and in catchment areas. The review covered vulnerable stretches near the Outer Ring Road.
Further, S. Srinivas directed officials to install adequate barricades at vulnerable locations. He also asked all departments to remain alert throughout the monsoon season. According to the DCP, coordinated action would help ensure public safety and strengthen emergency response during heavy rainfall.
