Hyderabad DISHA meeting reviews infrastructure and welfare schemes

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad DISHA meeting reviewed major infrastructure projects, welfare schemes and public grievances across the city. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy directed officials to speed up pending works and address issues raised by committee members.

Kishan Reddy chaired the Hyderabad District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee meeting. It was held at the CSIR-IICT conference hall in Tarnaka. The committee examined city development projects and implementation of Central government welfare schemes. Officials also responded to concerns raised by committee members.

Kishan Reddy said he would write to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy about the Balkampet railway bridge. He sought its widening or reconstruction because of its narrow width and dilapidated condition.

The bridge connects the Balkampet Yellamma temple area with Fatehnagar. He also directed officials to expedite Road Under Bridge works near Sanathnagar Yard.

Hyderabad DISHA meeting reviews traffic projects

The committee discussed traffic congestion near Bombay Hotel. A joint inspection was scheduled for Monday to examine possible measures. The Railway DRM, GHMC Commissioner and traffic officials were to participate in the inspection. They would examine proposals for box vents and road widening.

The Railway Department was also urged to approve small passage roads and drainage systems. These measures were aimed at improving connectivity for Lalaguda Siripuri Colony and Indira Nagar B-Colony residents.

In addition, the Hyderabad DISHA meeting reviewed the proposed expansion of the Ranigunj Road Over Bridge. Housing for economically weaker sections was another major issue. Officials said arrangements had been finalised to construct 480 houses in each Hyderabad constituency.

Kishan Reddy said the Central government provided Rs 5 lakh for each house. The State government provided Rs 1.5 lakh in financial assistance and the required land. The beneficiary contribution was stated to be Rs 6 lakh.

The Minister also ordered an immediate inquiry into alleged encroachments on government lands and parks. The identified locations included Film Nagar Rock Garden, Hakim Baba Dargah and Deen Dayal Nagar. He called for strict action against violators after the inquiry.

Hyderabad DISHA meeting focuses on waste management

The committee decided to expedite modern and eco-friendly waste-processing plants. The proposed facilities were located at Sangareddy, Shadnagar/Siddapur and Pyara Nagar. The projects were intended to reduce pressure on the Jawaharnagar dumping yard.

Officials were also directed to relocate leather-processing units and scrap businesses from residential areas in Bholakpur and Musheerabad. The units were to be shifted to the city outskirts to address pollution concerns.

The Hyderabad DISHA meeting also discussed expanding e-waste recycling facilities. The proposed expansion would cover discarded mobile phones and batteries. Meanwhile, officials said tenders had been invited for a citywide stormwater drainage system. The committee also reviewed the progress of 39 Sewage Treatment Plants across the city.
