Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar issued a safety advisory after a woman was murdered at the residence of a retired IPS officer in Jubilee Hills.
Police identified the deceased as the wife of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Ray. Investigators suspect that a domestic worker from Nepal committed the crime.
According to police, the accused targeted the house when no family members were present. Police suspect the accused carried out the murder during a robbery attempt.
Sajjanar said the accused stuffed cloth into the victim’s mouth and allegedly killed her by suffocation to prevent her from raising an alarm.
Safety advisory issued for domestic worker verification
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner urged residents employing domestic workers to remain cautious and alert.
Sajjanar warned that criminal gangs sometimes gathered information about household routines before committing offences.
He also advised residents to closely monitor the activities and movements of domestic workers employed in their homes.
Further, the Commissioner instructed citizens to complete police verification before hiring workers from other states or countries.
He asked residents to submit Aadhaar details, photographs and complete identification records at local police stations.
Meanwhile, police said the accused fled after committing the crime and launched an investigation to trace those involved.
The incident at the residence of a retired senior police officer has now triggered widespread discussion in Hyderabad.
