Hyderabad: Chilkalguda Police arrested three alleged members of an interstate Chilkalguda robbery gang, including a habitual offender facing multiple criminal cases, and apprehended a juvenile in conflict with law. The arrests followed an investigation into the alleged kidnapping, assault and robbery of a labourer in Secunderabad.
Police identified the prime accused as Darla Nehemiah alias Brucelee, 30. Investigators described him as a history-sheeter with 65 criminal cases registered in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
According to police, the accused kidnapped labourer C. Raj Kumar of Musheerabad on June 22. They allegedly assaulted him, robbed him of a mobile phone and Rs.6,000 in cash, and abandoned him near the Alugaddabavi Railway Under Bridge. The victim later filed a complaint at Chilkalguda Police Station.

Police arrested Dara Ashwanth, 27, and Nithin Francis alias Bablu, 22, along with Brucelee. Officers also apprehended a juvenile separately in connection with the case.
Investigators alleged that Brucelee recruited offenders he met in prison and formed organised gangs to commit robberies and burglaries. Police said he had earlier faced detention under the Preventive Detention Act.
During the investigation, officers recovered the victim’s mobile phone, a Honda Activa scooter allegedly used in the crime and Rs.2.25 lakh in cash. They also recovered another mobile phone allegedly linked to a theft case registered at Meerpet Police Station.
Chilkalguda robbery gang accused remanded
Police alleged that Brucelee was also involved in recent offences in Anantapur, Alwal and Meerpet after his release from prison.
Authorities produced the three accused before the X Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Secunderabad, who remanded them to judicial custody. Police produced the juvenile before the Juvenile Justice Board.
Secunderabad Zone DCP Rakshitha Krishna Murthy commended the investigating team. She reiterated that Hyderabad City Police would continue its zero-tolerance approach towards robbery, theft and organised property crimes.
