Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced an allocation of Rs 1,000 crore for Godavari Pushkaralu preparations.
The funds will support pilgrim facilities and the construction of bathing ghats along the river.
He made the announcement after laying the foundation stone for development works at the Guddemgutta Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Temple in Mancherial constituency on Saturday.
Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar attended the programme.
MLAs Prem Sagar Rao, Raj Thakur and Gandra Satyanarayana Rao also participated.
Godavari Pushkaralu preparations include temple development works
Addressing the gathering, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was giving top priority to education, healthcare and spirituality.
He recalled that the demand for developing Guddemgutta Temple emerged during a public meeting at Pippiri.
The meeting marked the third anniversary of the Praja Prasthanam Padayatra.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government sanctioned funds within 37 days of the request.
Further, he announced an investment of nearly Rs 70 crore for the temple’s development.
He said the project would transform Guddemgutta into a major spiritual destination.
Meanwhile, the government has sanctioned Rs 2,216 crore for temple development and rejuvenation works across Telangana.
He also credited Minister Sridhar Babu for the successful conduct of Saraswati Pushkaralu.
Additionally, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government had earmarked Rs 802 crore for pilgrimage centres along the Godavari basin.
The development works will cover temples and religious sites from Basara to Bhadrachalam.
He said the government was responding to the aspirations and faith of devotees through major investments in spiritual infrastructure.
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted measures to strengthen agriculture in the region.
In this regard, the government sanctioned Rs 74 crore for a lift irrigation project in the Guddemgutta area.
Authorities also laid the foundation stone for the irrigation works on Saturday.
Bhatti Vikramarka praised local MLA Prem Sagar Rao for focusing on education, healthcare, spirituality and irrigation development in the constituency.
