Hyderabad Police launch AI Copywriter app for multilingual complaints

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Police launched the AI Copywriter app for multilingual complaint registration across police stations in the city. Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar unveiled the AI-based application at the TGICCC centre in Banjara Hills on Saturday.

The AI Copywriter app will help victims submit complaints in their native languages. Police officials said the system can instantly record spoken complaints and translate them for officers. The application will soon become available in more than 80 police stations in Hyderabad.

Officials said migrant workers and tourists often struggle to file complaints because they do not know Telugu or English. They said language barriers sometimes delay FIR registration and lead to errors in recording information.

The AI Copywriter app can identify more than 10 Indian languages. Hyderabad City Police developed the application with support from BlueCloud Softech Solutions and intern Pagro Chandu.

Police officials said the application converts spoken complaints into written text within seconds. It also translates languages including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Marathi for police personnel.

Authorities said the app reduces dependence on translators during complaint registration. The earlier process often consumed several hours, officials added.

AI Copywriter app speeds up multilingual policing

Officer details and timestamps are automatically stored in PDF records. Officials said this feature improves transparency and prevents tampering with records.

The application can also identify statements from complainants, accused persons and witnesses separately through multi-party labelling.

Sajjanar said Hyderabad Police became the first department in the country to introduce an AI-based multilingual complaint recorder. He said Hyderabad attracts migrants and foreign nationals from different regions and countries.

He said language barriers often delayed complaint registration or resulted in incorrect entries. According to him, the AI Copywriter app instantly recognises speech in a complainant’s mother tongue and converts it into an official record.

Officials said the system updates information every five seconds during conversations.

Sajjanar said the technology would improve trust in police services among migrant workers, women and older citizens. He said accurate recording of victim statements would strengthen investigations and improve conviction chances.

He said the application would also reduce typing work for police personnel. The system would help police maintain uniform records across stations.

Hyderabad Police had already expanded artificial intelligence in several policing systems, officials said. The department introduced AI support in the ‘C-Mitram’ platform for cybercrime complaints.

The department also introduced AI-based automated duty allocation for City Armed Reserve personnel. Officials said the automated system replaced manual methods and improved transparency in postings.

Hyderabad Police later launched the AI-based ‘SOC-Eye’ application to monitor social media content that could disturb public order. The platform also identifies posts affecting the safety of women and children, officials said.

The department recently integrated complaint registration procedures with artificial intelligence through the AI Copywriter app.
