Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday directed officials to accelerate CRIF road works, Setu Bandhan bridges and railway overbridge projects across Telangana.
He also ordered faster execution of constituency-wise works in the erstwhile districts and sought stronger field-level monitoring by R&B engineers. Komatireddy issued the directions during a detailed review of the Roads and Buildings Department at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
He said the government had so far sanctioned 316 works covering 3,918 km of roads at a cost of Rs. 5,159 crore. Some of those works were ready to begin, while many others had reached their final stages, he said.
The Minister also reviewed 422.36 km of road works taken up during 2025-26 at a cost of Rs. 868 crore. He expressed satisfaction with their progress and appreciated the officials concerned.
CRIF road works and bridges face deadline push
Komatireddy told officials that CRIF road works should move faster across the state. He also sought timely completion of several high-level bridges and railway overbridges. The Minister said progress in each Assembly constituency within the erstwhile districts needed further improvement.
He reviewed projects in Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Mahabubabad and Rangareddy districts. Officials briefed him on the status of works in those areas.
Komatireddy said engineers should work more effectively at the field level. He asked them to play a key role in achieving the government’s objective of building better roads. The Minister also reviewed the Narketpally bridge being constructed under the Setu Bandhan programme at a cost of Rs. 76 crore.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of the bridge. However, he asked officials to speed up the remaining work with cooperation from the local MLA. Komatireddy also directed immediate commencement of the Miryalaguda-Nandipahad bridge works.
He asked Chief Engineer Vanaja to complete the pending technical requirements without delay and coordinate with the local MLA. The Minister said high-level bridges and railway overbridge works should be completed within their stipulated timelines.
CRIF road works review covers Secretariat solar parking
During the same meeting, Komatireddy separately reviewed the shaded solar car parking project planned at Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. He asked officials to complete the project by December 2026.
Engineers briefed him on the work underway on the northern side of the Secretariat. Komatireddy reiterated an earlier decision that solar parking should be developed on three sides of the Secretariat building.
He said the facility should cover the northern, western and southern sides without affecting the building’s elevation. Accordingly, he directed officials to keep the solar parking structure within the building’s structural limits.
The Minister said the layout should follow a decision taken earlier in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Under that plan, the northern side would have two rows of solar-panel car parking.
The southern side would have three rows, while the western side would have one row. Officials presented the related designs to the Minister during the review. The solar car parking project was taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.81 crore.
Komatireddy told officials that the entire work should be completed by December 2026. He said the facility would generate 90,000 units of electricity for use by the Secretariat. According to the Minister, use of that power would reduce the Secretariat’s monthly electricity bill by 16 per cent.
The review meeting was attended by Engineer-in-Chief (Administration) Lingareddy and Chief Engineers Vasanth Naik, Vanaja and Dharma Reddy. DCE Ahmed Abdul Ali, EE Roop Karan, DE Rooparani, AEE Gangadhar and several other R&B engineers also participated.
Komatireddy said officials should intensify field-level supervision of CRIF road works, bridge projects and ROBs. He stressed that improved execution was essential to complete infrastructure projects on schedule and deliver better roads across Telangana.
