Hyderabad: The New EHS scheme for Telangana government employees, pensioners and their dependants was officially launched on Saturday after major corporate hospitals agreed to implement it immediately.
The decision followed a high-level meeting at the Telangana Secretariat. The Trust Board Convener and Employee Health Care Trust (EHCT) CEO chaired the meeting. Members of the Employees Health Scheme Board of Trustees attended the discussions. TG-JAC Chairman Maram Jagadishwar was also present.
Representatives of the Telangana State Hospitals Association participated in the meeting. Its president and general secretary joined representatives from several major corporate hospitals. The hospitals represented at the meeting included Apollo Hospitals, Continental Hospitals, Yashoda Hospitals and KIMS Hospitals.
After the discussions, TSHA and the participating hospital groups unanimously agreed to implement the New EHS scheme with immediate effect. As a result, eligible beneficiaries became entitled to cashless treatment facilities under the revised arrangement from Saturday.
New EHS scheme guidelines released
Officials also released the revised New EHS scheme guidelines during the meeting. The guidelines laid down updated procedures covering hospital empanelment, treatment protocols and settlement of claims.
The government described the launch as an important step towards strengthening health security for employees, pensioners and their dependants across Telangana. It also viewed the measure as part of its broader commitment to employee welfare.
EHCT officials expressed satisfaction over the cooperation extended by hospitals in implementing the revised programme. They said the agreement marked a positive step towards ensuring uninterrupted and quality healthcare services for government employees and pensioners across the state.
The Trust also asked empanelled hospitals to extend full cooperation while implementing the new procedures. Officials stressed that the guidelines should be followed both in letter and spirit.
They said proper implementation was necessary to ensure that beneficiaries received timely medical treatment without inconvenience.
New EHS scheme to provide cashless care
Under the New EHS scheme, eligible government employees, pensioners and their dependants would receive cashless treatment through participating hospitals. The immediate rollout followed consensus between the Employee Health Care Trust, hospital representatives and employee representatives at the Secretariat meeting.
Officials said cooperation from the hospital sector was essential for smooth implementation of the revised system. The meeting also focused on ensuring that the new framework addressed operational issues relating to treatment and claims.
Accordingly, the revised guidelines specified procedures for empanelling hospitals and providing treatment under defined protocols. They also set out updated mechanisms for processing and settling claims.
The Trust said the new framework was intended to strengthen healthcare access for eligible beneficiaries throughout Telangana. It urged all empanelled hospitals to ensure that treatment was provided without delays or procedural difficulties.
Officials said the new arrangement represented a significant step in expanding dependable healthcare protection for serving employees and retired government personnel. They added that beneficiaries should receive quality medical services continuously under the revised programme.
The New EHS scheme took effect immediately after participating hospitals and TSHA reached consensus at the meeting. The Trust reiterated that all stakeholders should cooperate fully so that the revised health scheme functioned smoothly across the state.
