Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar urged students and parents to verify OU affiliation before taking admission into degree colleges. He asked aspiring students to avoid institutions that falsely claim affiliation with Osmania University.
According to the Commissioner, Osmania University officials alerted the police about several colleges in the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits. Those institutions were claiming affiliation with the university in their advertisements. However, the police inquiry found that they had not received affiliation or permission from Osmania University.
OU affiliation claims under police scrutiny
Sajjanar said some institutions were issuing misleading advertisements to attract students and secure admissions. He cautioned students and parents against believing such claims. The Commissioner warned that they could lose both an academic year and their hard-earned money.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad City Police have initiated legal action against colleges that allegedly violated norms. They also targeted institutions that admitted students through false advertisements. Sajjanar said the police would continue to act against managements that mislead students about their affiliation status.
He advised students to seek admission only in recognised colleges listed on the government’s DOST admission portal. He also appealed to the public to report colleges making false affiliation claims by calling Dial 100 or informing the nearest police station.
Finally, Sajjanar urged students and parents to remain vigilant during the admission season. He asked them to avoid falling victim to fraudulent institutions.
