Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Congress Committee on Thursday organised a blood donation camp in Moghul Pura to mark former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s 82nd birth anniversary.
The DCC blood donation camp was held at Azam Function Hall with the message “Donate Blood, Save Lives.” Congress leaders, party workers, volunteers and blood donors participated in the programme.
The organisers described the initiative as a tribute to Rajiv Gandhi’s ideals of humanity, public service and service to the nation. Advisor to the Telangana government and senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao participated in the programme. Hyderabad DCC president Syed Khalid Saifullah also attended.
Charminar Assembly in-charge and contested candidate Mujeebullah Sharif joined the programme. Chandrayangutta Assembly in-charge and contested candidate Boya Nagesh also participated. Bahadurpura Assembly in-charge and contested candidate Rajesh and Yakutpura Assembly in-charge and contested candidate Raviraj attended the camp.
DCC blood donation camp stresses service without discrimination
Addressing the gathering, Saifullah said blood donation reflected the Congress party’s philosophy of serving people without discrimination. He said humanitarian service should not depend on a person’s religion, caste, community or social category.
“A person who donates blood may never meet the person whose life that blood ultimately saves. The recipient may never even know who the donor was,” Saifullah said. He added that blood did not distinguish between people before saving a life. According to him, that principle reflected the Congress ideology of working for every Indian.
Saifullah said public service meant helping people without first asking about their identity, religion, caste, community or social background. “Congress works for the welfare of all Indians,” he said.
Referring to blood donation, he said donors did not know whether their blood would help a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Dalit or Adivasi. Similarly, the recipient could belong to any other community, he said. What mattered was that the donation could save an Indian and, above all, a human life.
“That is the India we believe in,” Saifullah said.
DCC blood donation camp pays tribute to Rajiv Gandhi
Saifullah said the Congress organised the DCC blood donation camp to turn Rajiv Gandhi’s birth anniversary into meaningful public service. He associated the former Prime Minister’s public life with the vision of a modern, inclusive and forward-looking India.
Therefore, Saifullah said humanitarian activities provided an appropriate way to honour Rajiv Gandhi’s legacy. He thanked V. Hanumantha Rao and the Assembly constituency in-charges for participating. He also thanked Congress workers, volunteers and blood donors for supporting the initiative.
The programme carried another message, “Service to Humanity is the Real Service to the Nation.” Organisers also appealed to citizens to voluntarily donate blood and contribute to saving lives.
The DCC blood donation camp combined the commemoration of Rajiv Gandhi’s 82nd birth anniversary with a public appeal for humanitarian service.
