Bhatti Vikramarka calls for intensive voter list revision

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka asked Congress leaders to intensify the Voter list revision exercise ahead of the upcoming elections. He urged the party cadre to closely monitor the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process at the grassroots level.

Bhatti Vikramarka addressed a meeting of Congress leaders from the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency at Praja Bhavan. Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and Rajya Sabha MP V. Narsing Rao also attended.

The Deputy Chief Minister asked division-level leaders to work closely with Booth Level Agents (BLAs). He directed them to identify unmapped entries, spelling errors and technical discrepancies in the electoral rolls. He said party workers must ensure that every eligible voter finds a place on the final list.

Voter list revision tops Congress agenda

Bhatti Vikramarka also asked party leaders to publicise the state government’s welfare schemes. He highlighted free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, fine rice distribution, Aarogyasri health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh, direct fee reimbursement for students and Indiramma Jeevitha Bima.

He also urged Congress workers to explain the government’s ₹40,000-crore infrastructure programme for Hyderabad. The projects include new roads and flyovers. According to him, the government has also restored democratic governance and ended the atmosphere of fear witnessed over the past decade.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the party’s electoral success would depend on booth-level organisation. He asked leaders to respond quickly to local issues and resolve them wherever possible.

Meanwhile, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin expressed concern over the high number of unmapped entries in the voter list. They said more than 50 per cent of the entries required attention. The ministers urged party workers to coordinate with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). They also asked them to submit verification documents on time and prevent eligible names from getting deleted because of logical discrepancies.

MLAs Danam Nagender, Naveen Yadav, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, Corporation Chairman Faheem Qureshi, Kota Neelima, Feroz Khan and other Congress leaders attended the meeting.
