Congress workers strength key to welfare outreach: Uttam

Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy described Congress workers strength as crucial to taking government welfare programmes to people across Telangana. He said the grassroots cadre remained the vital link between beneficiaries and the Congress government.

Uttam addressed a Political Affairs Committee meeting in Bhongir on Monday. AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan attended the meeting. Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Lakshman Kumar also participated.

Elected representatives, senior party functionaries and other leaders attended the meeting. Uttam said Congress workers had remained with the party through difficult political circumstances. Therefore, he said the organisation could never overlook their loyalty, commitment and sacrifices.

Congress workers strength sustained party at grassroots

Recalling his long association with the Congress organisation, Uttam referred to his tenure as TPCC president. He said he had personally witnessed the dedication of ordinary party workers during challenging periods. According to him, they continued carrying the Congress flag despite political setbacks.

“The Congress worker is our real strength,” Uttam said. “Governments and positions may come and go, but it is the worker who carries the party flag,” he added.

He said workers remained among the people and kept the Congress organisation active at the grassroots. Uttam also linked the role of the party cadre with the delivery of government welfare programmes.

Congress workers strength needed for welfare communication

The minister said the Congress government had launched a wide range of welfare initiatives. However, he said their full impact depended on effective communication with people. “We are providing free rice, free electricity, houses, free bus travel and strong support to farmers,” Uttam said.

He said an active Congress cadre could help take information about those programmes to every household. Moreover, Uttam asked elected representatives to regularly interact with workers at the mandal, village and booth levels.

He urged them to involve grassroots workers in taking government programmes to eligible beneficiaries. The minister said party workers could explain welfare schemes directly to residents. In addition, they could help identify genuine beneficiaries.

Uttam said workers could also bring public grievances to the attention of elected representatives and government authorities. He maintained that Congress workers strength came from their direct connection with communities and their continued presence at the grassroots.

The minister called for stronger coordination between elected representatives and the party organisation to improve welfare outreach across Telangana.
