Hyderabad: Sports, Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry Minister Vakiti Srihari inaugurated the newly constructed Annaram Indiramma houses in Annaram village of Farooqnagar mandal in Shadnagar Assembly constituency on Sunday. Local MLA Veerlapalli Shankar also attended the programme.
During the event, Banjara women accorded a traditional welcome to the minister. The inauguration marked the completion of a new batch of houses under the state’s Indiramma housing scheme.
Annaram Indiramma houses reflect welfare focus
Addressing the gathering, Vakiti Srihari said the Congress government was implementing welfare and development programmes for poor and weaker sections. According to the minister, the Indiramma housing programme was a major initiative of the state government.
He said eligible beneficiaries were once again receiving Indiramma houses under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership. Earlier, large-scale housing distribution had taken place during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
In addition, Vakiti Srihari highlighted other welfare measures. He said the government was distributing fine rice through ration shops. Besides, women were benefiting from free bus travel and interest-free loans for self-help groups.
Meanwhile, the minister praised MLA Veerlapalli Shankar for working towards Shadnagar’s development and public welfare. He said the MLA had played an active role in speeding up land acquisition for the Lakshmidevipalli Reservoir.
However, Vakiti Srihari criticised previous governments for neglecting the region’s development. He said the Congress government remained committed to the welfare of poor families. Finally, the minister alleged that opposition parties were spreading misinformation about welfare schemes and urged youth and intellectuals to verify the facts.
