Hyderabad: The Telangana Government sanctioned 1.54 lakh new white ration cards and began preparations to distribute essential commodities to the beneficiaries. The State Civil Supplies Department, therefore, intensified arrangements to ensure smooth supply starting from November.
Telangana government readies rice distribution for new ration cards
In the first phase, the government issued cards in July. Later, officials examined fresh applications and approved cards for eligible families. Out of nearly six lakh applications received across Hyderabad, Medchal, and Ranga Reddy districts, the government sanctioned 1,54,276 cards. Consequently, about 5.77 lakh people will benefit from subsidised supplies. Officials estimated that 3,463 tonnes of rice will be required for the new beneficiaries.
District-wise distribution details
In the Hyderabad district, authorities identified 64,179 ration cards covering 2,80,640 beneficiaries. They will distribute 1,683 tonnes of fine rice to these families. Meanwhile, Medchal district accounts for 45,649 cards with 1,49,081 beneficiaries who will receive 894 tonnes of rice. Moreover, Ranga Reddy district has 44,448 cards covering 1,47,765 beneficiaries. The Civil Supplies Department thus arranged to distribute 886 tonnes of fine rice to them.
Officials added that the supply process would begin in November. Therefore, every new cardholder will receive essential commodities without delay.
