Hyderabad: BRS working president KTR praised farmers after their Jurala water protest led to preparations for irrigation water release. He said their campaign had demonstrated the importance of fighting for farmers’ rights.
KTR responded on X after the government indicated that it would release water from the Jurala Project. He said farmers had fought for their rights while their fields were drying due to the lack of irrigation water.
He described the farmers’ campaign as an inspiration. According to KTR, the remaining two years should focus on pressuring the government to meet the basic needs of people in Telangana.
KTR also thanked BRS leaders who joined the farmers’ agitation. He said questioning the government and fighting for Telangana’s rights should remain the party’s objective.
Jurala water protest leads to preparations for canal release
KTR thanked farmers for forcing the government to respond to their demand. He also appreciated those who supported the agitation across the combined Palamuru district.
Meanwhile, irrigation officials said authorities were preparing to release water into the right and left canals of the Jurala Project. The government had also indicated its readiness to release water into the parallel canal.
According to irrigation department officials, authorities could release the water early on Wednesday or Thursday. The preparations followed the farmers’ agitation over the shortage of irrigation water.
KTR said the campaign showed that farmers could secure attention for their demands by continuing their protest. He called for further efforts to protect what he described as Telangana’s rights.
He also ended his message with calls of “Jai Telangana” and “Jai KCR”. KTR urged supporters to continue questioning and fighting for their rights.
The irrigation department continued preparations for water release into the Jurala canal system, with officials indicating a possible release on Wednesday or Thursday morning.
