Telangana pension expansion ordered for anaemia patients and vulnerable groups
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered a Telangana pension expansion covering all eligible thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia patients across the State. He directed officials to identify beneficiaries and begin the process immediately. Moreover, he asked the departments concerned to distribute the pensions from August 15.
The Chief Minister said the financial support would provide relief to affected families. Revanth Reddy issued the directions during a review of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka attended the meeting with senior officials.
Telangana pension expansion covers vulnerable groups
The Chief Minister directed officials to sanction pensions to eligible widows and single women across Telangana. In addition, he sought adequate pension coverage for handloom workers and toddy tappers. Officials were asked to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries received support.
Revanth Reddy also reviewed pension assistance for the families of persons with disabilities. He ordered officials to grant pensions immediately to the wives of deceased persons with disabilities. Furthermore, he warned against delays in processing such applications.
The Telangana pension expansion aimed to strengthen support for vulnerable families facing health, social and financial difficulties. Officials were instructed to identify all eligible thalassaemia and sickle cell anaemia patients without delay.
The government planned to start pension distribution on August 15. Therefore, the Chief Minister asked the departments to complete beneficiary verification quickly. He also directed officials to maintain accuracy while preparing the lists. At the same time, he wanted the process completed without causing hardship to applicants.
The government said the pensions would reduce the financial burden on families managing long-term medical conditions.
MPDOs to monitor mandal development works
Revanth Reddy directed Mandal Parishad Development Officers to monitor development works undertaken by all departments at the mandal level. He also ordered Mandal Parishad meetings once every 45 days. Moreover, MPs, MLAs and MLCs were to receive invitations to those meetings.
The Chief Minister said the meetings would help sarpanches raise village problems with government officials. Consequently, departments could review local issues and coordinate their response at the mandal level.
He directed officials to create a clear monitoring system for development works. In addition, MPDOs were asked to track progress across departments. The Chief Minister said no village in Telangana should remain without a bitumen road.
Accordingly, he ordered officials to construct a bitumen road to every village. He also directed them to build an office for each gram panchayat. The government planned to classify panchayats as A, B and C based on population. Subsequently, officials were asked to construct office buildings according to those categories.
Revanth Reddy directed panchayat secretaries to take full responsibility for sanitation and other local administration matters. Meanwhile, he reviewed panchayats where elections had not taken place for various reasons.
He ordered the immediate release of funds to those panchayats. The measure aimed to prevent disruption to sanitation and other essential works.
Quality standards set for Indiramma sarees
The Chief Minister reviewed the plan to distribute sarees to one crore women. He directed officials to ensure high quality and attractive designs. Furthermore, he suggested using the services of National Institute of Fashion Technology students to develop the designs.
Revanth Reddy said women had responded positively to Indiramma sarees. Therefore, he instructed officials not to compromise on quality or colours. The sarees had to meet the expectations of beneficiaries across the State.
Drinking water planning reviewed amid El Niño concerns
The Chief Minister directed officials to take precautions over drinking water supply in panchayats amid El Niño conditions. He asked Rural Water Supply, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and Irrigation Department officials to hold coordination meetings.
Moreover, he directed all departments to give drinking water the first priority. Officials were asked to prepare supply plans based on local water resources. As a result, each area would need a plan suited to its available sources.
Revanth Reddy also reviewed wages for workers engaged under rural drinking water schemes. He ordered the government to pay their salaries by the fifth day of every month under all circumstances.
The Chief Minister said departments must avoid delays in wage payments. Meanwhile, officials were told to maintain drinking water services without interruption. Senior officials from the departments concerned attended the review meeting.
The meeting covered the Telangana pension expansion, rural infrastructure, panchayat administration, saree distribution and drinking water preparedness.
