Hyderabad: Telangana and Hiroshima Prefecture explored opportunities for collaboration in skill development, workforce training and international employment during a meeting between a Japanese delegation and Labour, Employment, Mines and Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Friday.
The delegation from Hiroshima Prefecture met the Minister at his chamber in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. The Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) facilitated the interaction.
During the meeting, the Japanese delegation briefed the Minister on employment opportunities available for Indian youth in various industries and sectors across Japan.
Discussions focused on strengthening the Telangana Hiroshima partnership through cooperation in skill development, workforce preparation and overseas employment opportunities.
Telangana Hiroshima partnership targets global jobs
The delegation said Japanese cities and Hyderabad have maintained ties for nearly two decades. It also noted that the partnership is currently marking its 20th year.
Speaking during the meeting, Vivek Venkatswamy said the Telangana Government was actively preparing young people to take advantage of global employment opportunities.
He highlighted the role of TOMCOM in creating overseas employment pathways and improving the employability of Telangana youth. Moreover, he said the organisation was working with a focused and professional approach to connect skilled workers with international opportunities.
The Minister also praised Japan’s technological advancements and work culture. Furthermore, he said he admired the precision of Japanese machinery and the discipline and humility displayed by Japanese citizens.
Telangana Hiroshima partnership to boost workforce skills
Labour, Employment, Training and Factories (LETF) Secretary Dasari Harichandana delivered a detailed presentation on Telangana’s economic growth potential during the meeting.
She outlined several initiatives undertaken by the State Government to strengthen skill development, workforce upgradation and international placement programmes.
In addition, Harichandana proposed the formation of a joint working group between Telangana and Hiroshima Prefecture. According to her, the initiative would help deepen cooperation and create more employment opportunities for skilled youth.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of building a globally competitive workforce capable of meeting the requirements of international industries.
Officials said the Telangana Hiroshima partnership could open new avenues for skill enhancement, overseas placements and long-term cooperation between the two regions.
