Road safety pledge website launched to promote responsible road behaviour

Hyderabad: The State government launched a road safety pledge website at the Secretariat to promote responsible road behaviour and strengthen public commitment to road safety.

Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurated the website. He said the initiative marked an important step towards building a culture of responsible road use in Telangana.

According to officials, the platform encourages citizens and parents to commit themselves to road safety. It underlines that saving lives is a shared responsibility and that safe habits begin at home and continue on every road.

The Transport Department said the initiative aimed to promote discipline, awareness, and responsible behaviour among road users across the State.

Road safety pledge targets families and students

Through the website, citizens can take a civic pledge to follow traffic rules and respect every life on the road. Similarly, parents can take a parental pledge and serve as role models to instil safe habits in children.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the department designed the road safety pledge by leveraging the strong bond between students and parents. He expressed hope that the initiative would help reduce road accidents and save lives in the coming years.

He added that students would commit to following traffic rules through agreements involving their parents. As a result, he said, family bonding could play a key role in reducing accidents.

The Minister said the Transport Department should take the initiative online and reach every motor vehicle owner. He also called for turning the pledge into a mass movement at the field level.

Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Transport Commissioner Ilambarthi, Joint Transport Commissioners Chandrashekhar Goud and Shivalingayya, and State Transport Authority member Naveen Pettem attended the programme.
