Hyderabad: Police conducted a cyber safety awareness drive in the Mailardevpally police station limits to educate residents on how to prevent online fraud and digital threats.
Teams carried out a door-to-door campaign in Pragathi Colony on April 14 under the supervision of DCP Rajendranagar Zone S. Srinivas. The programme aimed to spread awareness of cyber risks and safety practices.
During the interaction, officials advised residents not to download suspicious APK files received through messages or social media. In addition, they urged parents to monitor children’s mobile usage, especially during online gaming.
Cyber safety awareness drive highlights fraud prevention measures
Officials warned people against falling for fraudulent schemes, including fake lotteries and high-return investment offers. Moreover, they stressed the importance of reporting cyber fraud within the “golden hour” to help authorities freeze stolen funds.
They urged citizens to report incidents immediately by calling the national cyber helpline 1930 or visiting the official cybercrime portal. At the same time, they highlighted the need for vigilance while using digital platforms.
Police personnel, including the SHO, investigating officers and cyber staff, attended the programme. Around 25 residents participated and interacted with officials during the session.
