Seethakka issues heatwave advisory, urges precautions across Telangana

Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Seethakka issued a heatwave advisory, urging people across Telangana to take precautions amid rising temperatures.

She asked citizens to avoid stepping out between 11 am and 3 pm due to severe heat conditions. Instead, she advised completing essential work between 6 am and 10 am.

The Minister said people should stay indoors during peak hours. However, if stepping out is unavoidable, she urged them to wear caps or cover their heads and protect themselves from direct sunlight.

Heatwave advisory directs setup of cooling centres across the state

Seethakka warned that ignoring precautions could lead to heatstroke. Therefore, she directed officials to take immediate measures to safeguard public health.

She said the Panchayat Raj Department has instructed district authorities to set up cooling centres in villages and mandal headquarters. Moreover, she asked officials to make these facilities available to the public without delay.

The Minister also issued guidelines for workers under the employment guarantee scheme. In addition, she advised labourers to take precautions while working in summer conditions.

She said workers should cover their heads, keep drinking water nearby and avoid prolonged exposure to heat. At the same time, she directed officials to ensure drinking water facilities at all worksites.

Referring to the facial recognition attendance system, she said workers may face difficulties but must comply with the existing rules. She urged labourers to prioritise their health and avoid working during extreme heat unless necessary.
