Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the government would organise foreign study tours teachers programme every year to help government teachers enhance their knowledge and professional skills.
Interacting with delegates who participated in the Finland and Germany Exposure programme on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the initiative would follow the model under which IAS and IPS officers visit foreign countries for training and exposure.
He said the government would formulate a plan to bear the expenses for teachers travelling abroad for advanced learning and quality education.
Foreign study tours teachers initiative to strengthen education
Revanth Reddy said the government had launched several education reforms to improve the quality of schooling rather than for political gains. He urged officials to prepare an action plan for the next academic year by December, taking every mandal as an education cluster.
The Chief Minister said education and discipline played a vital role in shaping students’ future. He added that the government aimed to increase state revenue and use it to improve opportunities for the poor.
He also assured teachers that the government would address their grievances. According to the Chief Minister, the state spends ₹1.08 lakh annually on every student.
He said parents spent nearly ₹50,000 each year to educate children in private schools. Therefore, he asked officials to examine why many families preferred private institutions despite government investment.
Revanth Reddy described the enrolment of an additional one lakh students in government schools this academic year as a significant achievement.
Foreign study tours teachers programme among education reforms
The Chief Minister rejected opposition demands that he relinquish the Education portfolio. He highlighted several initiatives, including breakfast for students from Nursery to Class 12, teacher recruitment and promotions, the conversion of Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) and the establishment of a Skills University.
He said the government had appointed leaders from globally successful corporate organisations to the Skills University board to strengthen skill development.
Revanth Reddy reiterated that the government would continue implementing education reforms and said salaries for government employees were being paid on the first day of every month.
He urged teachers to create awareness about the importance of education and encouraged teachers’ associations to raise issues affecting students alongside staff concerns.
The Chief Minister appealed to teachers to help transform government educational institutions into world-class centres of learning. He also called on educators to dedicate themselves to improving society and shaping future generations.
Revanth Reddy said teachers shared responsibility with parents because children spent a significant part of their day in schools. He also referred to the residential school model introduced during the tenure of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality education and nutritious food.
Separately, the Chief Minister criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the growth in the country’s debt, alleging that borrowings had increased significantly between 2014 and 2026.
