Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Thursday directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for Praja Palana Day celebrations at Public Gardens in Nampally. The Telangana government scheduled the programme for September 17.
Jaju reviewed the preparations at a meeting held at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. He instructed departments concerned to coordinate and complete the required arrangements for the event.
The Chief Secretary said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would first visit the Martyrs’ Stupa opposite the Assembly on September 17. The Chief Minister would pay tributes there in the morning before proceeding to Public Gardens.
The Praja Palana Day celebrations would subsequently take place at Public Gardens. Jaju directed officials to ensure all necessary arrangements at both the Martyrs’ Stupa and the main celebration venue.
Praja Palana Day rehearsal set for September 15
The Chief Secretary directed officials to conduct a full dress rehearsal for the Praja Palana Day programme on September 15. He also instructed authorities to illuminate major buildings and historical structures across Hyderabad as part of the celebrations.
Around 1,000 women from self-help groups were expected to attend the programme. In addition, about 2,000 other participants were expected to take part in the celebrations.
Several senior officials attended the review meeting at the Secretariat. They included Special Chief Secretaries Jayesh Ranjan, Vikas Raj and Ahmed Nadeem.
Principal Secretaries Naveen Mittal, Christina Z Chongthu and Shikha Goel also attended. Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Sajjanar and RTC Managing Director Nagi Reddy participated in the meeting.
Information Department Special Commissioner Mukund Reddy and other senior officials were also present during the review of arrangements.
