Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of diverting attention from public issues through proceedings in the Telangana Legislature. He also alleged that the Congress government had undermined democratic practices while dealing with the opposition.
Sravan said the Assembly had witnessed three days of “meaningless rhetoric” instead of debates on major public concerns. He cited alleged irregularities involving Section 22-A lands and Rs 20,000 crore in pending fee reimbursement dues.
The BRS leader also raised GO 97, which he claimed had affected more than one lakh polytechnic students. He accused the government of avoiding discussions on these matters.
Sravan further alleged that the Chief Minister had misled the House by relying on information circulated through a purported fake social-media account. Consequently, he demanded that Revanth Reddy be debarred for the remainder of the session.
Sravan accuses Revanth Reddy over treatment of BRS members
Sravan condemned the alleged police assault on BRS MLAs and MLCs at the Assembly. He claimed police had stopped elected representatives at the gates and physically manhandled them.
Moreover, the BRS MLC alleged that the government had ignored court observations concerning the conduct of police personnel.
Sravan accused the Congress government of adopting what he called a “Teen Patti” strategy against BRS leaders. He alleged that cases were filed against opposition leaders whenever they criticised the government.
He also questioned the timing of alleged SC/ST and sexual-harassment cases. Sravan described those cases as politically motivated.
On the suspension of BRS MLCs, Sravan accused the government of following a “Tughlaq rule.” He alleged that the members were punished without receiving an opportunity to explain their position.
According to him, the action was taken before the matter was referred to the Ethics Committee.
Sravan also condemned an alleged attempt to target the residence of BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He accused Congress leaders of engaging in provocative politics and demanded that Revanth Reddy condemn any threats against KCR.
The BRS MLC said his party would continue raising public issues. He also alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil its electoral promises and guarantees.
“The people of Telangana will teach the Congress government a fitting lesson,” Sravan said. He predicted that Revanth Reddy would face a strong political backlash in the next elections.
