Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials and teachers to create a strong MJP brand image by improving academic standards and strengthening the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Gurukul education system across Telangana.
The minister reviewed Class 10 and Intermediate examination results of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Gurukul schools during a meeting held on Thursday.
Ponnam Prabhakar congratulated principals of schools that achieved 100 percent pass results. However, he warned principals of institutions that recorded poor results and asked them to conduct self-review exercises before the next academic year.
He said Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Gurukul schools should emerge as leading educational institutions in Telangana during the coming academic year.
The minister instructed teaching staff to work collectively and provide students with holistic education, including sports, cultural activities, science and artificial intelligence.
MJP brand image linked to quality education reforms
Ponnam Prabhakar said the government had prioritised education and strengthened Gurukul schools with better infrastructure and facilities.
He stated that many Gurukul institutions earlier functioned in private buildings. However, the government was now providing improved infrastructure, quality food and enhanced mess and cosmetic charges for students.
The minister said parents were sending their children to Gurukul schools with trust in the government and teachers. Therefore, teachers should treat students like their own children and guide them with discipline and social values.
He also expressed concern over student suicides in Gurukul institutions due to minor issues. The minister instructed teachers to motivate students and improve their mental resilience.
Ponnam Prabhakar stressed that all teachers should work together to build the MJP brand image and elevate Telangana’s Gurukul education model to a level studied by other states.
MJP brand image strengthened by strong exam results
The minister congratulated Secretary Saidulu and school principals after Gurukul institutions achieved a 98.45 percent pass rate in Class 10 examinations.
He said 9,788 students secured more than 500 marks, while 204 MJP Gurukul schools achieved 100 percent results.
However, he warned 65 schools that recorded poor performance and asked them to improve standards. He also noted that many students failed in Telugu and directed officials to pay special attention to the subject.
Ponnam Prabhakar instructed schools to display flex boards with rank holders’ photographs and widely publicise Gurukul results in villages.
He stated that Intermediate second-year pass percentage stood at 90.31 percent, while vocational second-year results reached 97.72 percent.
Intermediate first-year pass percentage was 85.80 percent and vocational first-year results stood at 95.81 percent.
According to the minister, 4,183 students secured above 900 marks and 496 students scored above 980 marks in Intermediate examinations.
MJP brand image to improve through competitive exam coaching
The minister said Gurukul students should also secure top ranks in TGEAPCET examinations.
He announced that computer laboratories would be established in every Gurukul school across Telangana.
Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials to prepare students for NEET, EAMCET and other competitive examinations from Class 8 onwards.
He further instructed officials to ensure direct Intermediate admissions for students completing Class 10 in MJP Gurukul schools.
The minister said he would personally visit Gurukul institutions in districts and directed schools to conduct regular parent-teacher meetings to strengthen the MJP brand image.
