Hyderabad: The Congress government planned a major public meeting at Pippri village to mark the Peoples March anniversary, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy scheduled to attend on April 6. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka directed officials to complete all arrangements for the event in Adilabad district.
Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed preparations with senior officials and district collectors at the Assembly Committee Hall on Saturday. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao joined the review meeting. The event marked three years of the Peoples March padayatra, which laid the foundation for the Congress party’s rise to power.
Recalling the beginning, Bhatti Vikramarka said he launched the march from Pippri village while serving as CLP leader. He stated that the government remained committed to fulfilling promises made during the padayatra. He also announced that the Chief Minister would hand over implementation documents of assurances given to various sections at the public meeting.
Peoples March anniversary to highlight welfare promises
The Peoples March anniversary event will focus on delivering assurances made during the padayatra, Bhatti Vikramarka said. He asserted that the Congress honoured commitments after coming to power and would continue to do so.
He outlined the Chief Minister’s schedule in detail. Revanth Reddy will arrive at Basara at 11 am and perform special Pooja. After attending a programme there, he will reach Pippri village at 2 pm to address the public meeting.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the event forms part of the ongoing 99-day Praja Palana celebrations. At the same time, officials are conducting village meetings to take welfare programmes to the grassroots.
Peoples March anniversary recalls Dharani and land reforms
The Peoples March anniversary also brought back key issues raised during the padayatra, especially those related to land rights. Bhatti Vikramarka said farmers had raised concerns about assigned lands placed under the prohibited list through the Dharani portal by the previous BRS government.
He recalled that he and Revanth Reddy had promised to scrap Dharani and introduce a transparent system. After assuming office, the government introduced the Bhu Bharati law to address those concerns.
According to him, the previous government denied rights to farmers by placing assigned lands under Part-B. In contrast, he said the present government would legally protect those rights and instructed collectors to act accordingly.
He also reviewed irrigation issues linked to the Komaram Bheem project. Work began in 2004 under Jalayagnam, yet canal construction remained incomplete for years. He directed officials to complete both right and left canals without delay.
Peoples March anniversary event to include development push
The Peoples March anniversary meeting will also highlight development initiatives in tribal and rural areas. Bhatti Vikramarka reviewed the status of projects such as Chikman, Pulimadugu and Kupti Triveni Sangamam.
He instructed officials to promote agriculture under the Indira Soura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme. In addition, he asked them to design plans that support tribal women with interest-free loans for self-employment.
During the discussion, he recalled visiting the Nagoba temple at Keslapur during the padayatra. Tribal communities had then sought temple development. He stated that the government allocated funds for the temple after coming to power.
Bhatti Vikramarka stressed that officials must ensure welfare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries. He also asked them to spread awareness about new schemes scheduled for launch from June 2.
He said the government sanctioned 3,500 Indiramma houses for each constituency. However, many more applications came in during the padayatra. He instructed officials to accept all applications in tribal and agency areas and confirmed that the government stands ready to provide houses to all eligible beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, ministers and advisors, including Jupally Krishna Rao and Vem Narender Reddy, said the Chief Minister’s visit would mark both the Praja Palana celebrations and the completion of the padayatra. They urged all departments to coordinate and ensure smooth arrangements.
