Hyderabad: Energy and Mines Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkataswamy said Medak district development had accelerated under the Congress government. He said the government had expanded welfare and infrastructure programmes across several sectors.
Speaking during Telangana Praja Palana Day celebrations in Medak, Vivek paid tribute to martyrs and freedom fighters. He also recalled that Hyderabad State had merged with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948. “Freedom and democracy exist today thanks to the sacrifices made by the people,” he said.
Vivek said the government had started implementing its Abhayahastham promises within 48 hours of assuming office. Subsequently, officials collected applications from people through Indiramma Gram Sabhas. He added that the government had continued implementing the promised welfare schemes across the state.
Medak district development covers welfare and power support
Highlighting Medak district development, Vivek detailed the benefits that women had received under the Mahalakshmi scheme. Women in the district had availed free bus travel worth ₹4.73 crore, he said.
Moreover, women had received benefits worth ₹171.04 crore under the Mahalakshmi scheme. Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, 129,756 consumers had received zero-amount electricity bills. The government had also provided a subsidy of ₹113.80 crore under the programme.
Meanwhile, the government had disbursed ₹222.69 crore to 266,674 farmers under the Rythu Bharosa scheme. Vivek also outlined healthcare investments and benefits in the district. He said 40,351 poor people had received medical services after the government increased the Aarogyasri coverage limit to ₹10 lakh.
The government had sanctioned ₹180 crore for the Medak Medical College building. In addition, it had sanctioned ₹26 crore for the Nursing College. The government had also focused on strengthening education infrastructure in the district. Accordingly, it had sanctioned two Telangana Public Schools, Vivek said.
The government was constructing the Young India Integrated Residential School at Ramayampet at a cost of ₹200 crore. Housing assistance had also reached thousands of families. The government had sanctioned 9,682 Indiramma houses with a total budget of ₹484.10 crore. Moreover, it had already credited ₹177.08 crore to 6,483 beneficiaries, the minister said.
Medak district development includes farm and employment works
Vivek said agricultural procurement and rural employment projects had also contributed to Medak district development. The government had procured 425,305 metric tonnes of paddy from 100,344 farmers. It had subsequently paid them a total of ₹1,116.06 crore for the procurement.
Additionally, the government had sanctioned ₹98.51 crore for 1,086 works under the Employment Guarantee Scheme. Vivek said the administration had focused on education, healthcare, employment, agriculture and women’s welfare.
“We are fostering development across all sectors, including education, healthcare, employment, agriculture, and women’s welfare,” he said. “We must strive to make Medak district a leader in all sectors,” the minister added.
