Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao asked party leaders to treat graduate voter registration as a matter of prestige ahead of two Graduate MLC elections. KTR held district-wise meetings at Telangana Bhavan with leaders from Hyderabad and the undivided Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts. He expressed confidence that the BRS would win the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar Graduate MLC election.
He recalled the party’s earlier victory after fielding Vani Devi, daughter of former Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao. KTR credited that result to planned and collective efforts by party leaders. Therefore, he asked the leadership to show similar unity and commitment in the coming elections.
KTR seeks graduate voter registration drive
KTR said the political atmosphere was favourable to the BRS and expressed confidence that it could retain the seat. With graduate voter registration underway, he directed leaders to ensure that all eligible graduates enrolled.
He asked leaders to give particular attention to eligible graduates in their own families. He also called for an organised voter-enrolment strategy across the constituency. KTR claimed that the BJP’s popularity was declining across the country. He said its senior leadership was concerned about young voters moving away from the party.
Meanwhile, he alleged that dissatisfaction with the Congress government in Telangana had reached a high point. According to KTR, younger voters were increasingly dissatisfied with both the BJP and Congress. He referred to the two parties as “Delhi-based parties”.
He said this dissatisfaction created a strong possibility of the BRS winning both Graduate MLC seats. KTR also claimed that government employees were angry over the “betrayal” by the Revanth Reddy government. He said unemployed youth were deeply dissatisfied with the government.
Further, he said educated sections were strongly criticising the state government, which had recently completed 1,000 days in office. KTR said leaders from Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda had also expressed confidence in the BRS’s prospects. He said they conveyed this view during a review meeting held two days earlier on the local MLC constituency.
Finally, KTR asked party leaders to work collectively for the BRS’s success. He stressed that graduate voter registration and enrolment planning should continue regardless of who became the party candidate.
