KTR promises 24-hour drinking water supply to Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday promised 24-hour drinking water supply to every household in Hyderabad if the Bharat Rashtra Samithi returns to power.

Addressing party cadres in Kukatpally, KTR said the BRS government had already transformed Telangana from a power-deficit state into one with uninterrupted electricity supply.

He said the party would now focus on ensuring 24-hour drinking water supply across Hyderabad city.

Recalling conditions before Telangana state formation, KTR said people faced severe electricity shortages and drinking water scarcity during Congress rule in the undivided state.

He stated that protests over power cuts and water shortages were common before Telangana was formed.

According to KTR, the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led government later implemented uninterrupted electricity supply and launched Mission Bhagiratha to provide piped drinking water connections across the state.

KTR said the same determination shown by KCR in providing uninterrupted electricity would now guide efforts to ensure continuous water supply in Hyderabad.

“The person who gave 24-hour power supply to Telangana is KCR, and the person who will provide 24-hour drinking water supply to Hyderabad is also KCR,” he said.

KTR also said he would personally monitor the implementation of the programme after BRS returned to power.

Meanwhile, he launched a sharp attack on the Congress government and accused it of misleading people with unrealistic election promises.

He alleged that Congress failed to implement promises related to enhanced pensions and monthly financial support for women.

KTR also accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of taking credit for projects constructed during the previous BRS government.

He claimed Congress leaders were inaugurating flyovers, hospitals and infrastructure projects built under BRS rule while portraying them as new achievements.

KTR said Hyderabad voters were fully aware of Congress governance and therefore did not elect the party to a single seat in the city.

He further alleged that Congress policies severely damaged Hyderabad’s real estate sector and slowed construction activity.

According to him, the slowdown affected lakhs of construction labourers and centring workers.

Assuring support to workers, KTR said a future BRS government would introduce insurance and welfare programmes for construction workers.

He also announced that the upcoming BRS membership drive would take place completely in digital mode.

KTR said the enrolment process and committee formation exercise would continue for nearly 50 to 60 days. He added that the party would organise special training sessions for workers.

During the meeting, KTR also made a presentation on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

He urged party cadres to remain alert against alleged fake and duplicate votes registered by Congress and BJP.

KTR also asked booth-level workers to ensure that genuine voters did not lose their voting rights during the revision process.
