Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Samithi chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha issued a warning to Minister Sridhar Babu during her visit to the Adriyala Long Wall Project mine, where she interacted with Singareni workers and raised concerns over their working conditions.
As part of the Singareni Baibata programme, Kavitha visited the underground mine in the agency area of the undivided Karimnagar district. She spoke to workers and heard their grievances firsthand.
During the interaction, a worker explained the difficulties faced by employees in the mines. Kavitha became emotional while listening to his account and assured workers of her support.
Kavitha warning follows criticism of Singareni policies
Meanwhile, addressing a gate meeting, Kavitha launched a sharp attack on the Congress government and Minister Sridhar Babu.
She alleged that the government had become hostile to Singareni and claimed that pending dues of nearly ₹50,000 crore had pushed the organisation into financial difficulties.
Kavitha also accused officials of increasing production targets without providing adequate facilities and proper equipment to workers.
Further, she alleged that Singareni had failed to modernise underground mining machinery. She said workers endure long journeys on man chairs, which often result in back pain.
According to Kavitha, authorities have not provided promotions to employees in JMIT even after several years. She said workers and officers should function together instead of one group suppressing the other.
Targeting Sridhar Babu, Kavitha referred to an earlier dispute related to the unveiling of a Komaram Bheem statue. She alleged that he had played a role in her arrest at the time.
Kavitha claimed that her supporters had defeated him electorally in the past and warned that they would do so again if he attempted to interfere in workers’ issues.
She also accused the police of preventing her from meeting workers over the past four days. Further, she alleged that employees were threatened with salary cuts if they attended the gate meeting.
Kavitha said she would stage a protest if workers faced salary deductions for participating in the programme. She also appealed to workers to support HMS in the upcoming elections.
