Kavitha raises workers’ issues during Singareni mine visit

Hyderabad: TRS chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha interacted with Singareni workers during her visit to the RK-7 Mine in Srirampur of Mancherial district and said her party would continue to fight for labour welfare and workers’ rights.

Workers accorded a warm welcome to Kavitha at the mine premises. She met women supervisors, employees and officials and gathered details about issues affecting the workforce. Kavitha said her party had fought in Parliament for greater participation of women in Singareni jobs.

She expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of women employees in the organisation. However, she said the management must improve facilities available to women workers. Kavitha said Singareni has only recently begun witnessing a rise in women employees and stressed the need to provide them with better workplace amenities.

She alleged that police attempted to prevent her from visiting the mining area. Questioning the restrictions, she said political leaders had organised meetings in mining regions in the past.

Singareni workers welfare and facilities under focus

Kavitha said labour movements and workers’ struggles had played a key role in securing legal protections for employees. She stated that the Telangana Rakshana Sena Party had adopted a five-point agenda focused on public welfare.

According to her, free education and healthcare form two of the party’s major priorities. Furthermore, she stressed the need to establish quality educational institutions for workers’ children. Kavitha alleged that authorities readily spend money on administrative requirements but ignore several welfare needs of workers.

She also accused some officials of violating workers’ rights and demanded action against those responsible for harassment. The TRS chief claimed that management was not declaring certain medically unfit employees as unfit despite their health conditions. She said workers have every right to organise meetings in mining areas and opposed attempts to restrict such activities.

Moreover, Kavitha described HMS president Riyaz as a leader committed to labour welfare and said the Telangana Rakshana Sena Party would work alongside HMS on workers’ issues. Kavitha appealed to Singareni workers to support TRS and HMS in their efforts to safeguard labour rights and employee welfare.
