Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Thursday demanded that the State government immediately clear pending Singareni dues and strengthen welfare measures for Singareni workers.
Addressing workers after visiting the PVK-5 underground mine in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Kavitha announced a hunger strike in Godavarikhani from July 20. She said the protest would seek the establishment of a medical board for Singareni employees.
Kavitha also urged Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao to press for a resolution in the Assembly against the four labour codes. Moreover, she alleged that contract workers were not receiving minimum wages and said the HMS would continue its fight for workers’ rights.
She criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), alleging that the party was attempting to prevent media coverage of her political activities. She also dismissed speculation about rejoining the BRS, stating that she would not return to the party.
Singareni dues demand accompanied by allegations against BRS
Kavitha further alleged that the BRS was trying to revoke the name “Telangana Rakshana Sena.” She claimed the name had been suggested by the Election Commission and expressed confidence that the matter would be resolved fairly.
She also demanded an inquiry into the BRS party’s finances, alleging that its ₹1,400 crore bank balance resulted from quid pro quo arrangements. Additionally, she alleged that BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao recently purchased an English newspaper for ₹188 crore, but she did not present evidence to support the claim.
