Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday alleged that the Congress government had lost Congress public support in Telangana and claimed the party would struggle to regain public confidence.
Addressing a special review meeting with BRS leaders from Hyderabad, KTR said a survey allegedly commissioned by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reflected growing public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance after completing half of its term. However, he did not provide details of the survey.
According to KTR, the survey indicated that the BRS would win around 78 Assembly seats if elections were held immediately. He further claimed that two media opinion polls and assessments by central and state intelligence agencies reached similar conclusions.
KTR also alleged that many respondents wanted former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to return to office. Moreover, he claimed the Chief Minister’s recent public remarks were influenced by the reported survey findings.
KTR links Congress public support to BRS comeback claims
The BRS leader accused the Congress government of diverting attention from administrative issues by raising allegations over the Kaleshwaram project and the Rythu Bandhu scheme. He maintained that the public was increasingly viewing the BRS as the principal alternative in Telangana.
KTR further claimed that confidence in the Congress government had declined across the State. Meanwhile, he said the party would find it difficult to rebuild public support despite its political efforts.
The meeting took place at the residence of former minister and MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav in Jubilee Hills. BRS MLAs, MLCs, MPs, constituency in-charges and senior leaders from Hyderabad attended the meeting, where KTR reviewed organisational activities and guided party workers on the SIR campaign.
