Bhatti orders immediate release of ₹92 crore dues for Gurukul schools

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka directed the immediate release of ₹92 crore in pending dues for Gurukul, KGBV, and Best Available Schools in Telangana, ensuring uninterrupted services at these residential institutions.

The decision came during a review meeting with Finance Department officials held at Praja Bhavan on Thursday evening. Bhatti reviewed long-pending bills related to mess charges, rent, and cosmetic expenses across Tribal Welfare Residential Schools, Tribal and General Gurukul Schools, and KGBVs.

He instructed officials to clear the dues without delay to prevent disruption in food, accommodation, or academic support for students. Officials began processing payments following the orders.

Bhatti also stressed the need to strictly implement the government-prescribed menu in all hostels. He asked officials to visit Gurukul schools and welfare hostels regularly to monitor food quality, accommodation standards, and teaching outcomes.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to education, Bhatti said the administration is systematically clearing both current and old dues—unlike the previous regime. He highlighted that students should not suffer due to administrative delays.

The Praja Government had recently increased cosmetic charges by 200% and mess charges by 40% for students in government hostels. The release of pending dues, along with these enhanced allocations, is expected to improve living and learning conditions for students in residential institutions.

The move will also benefit students studying in Best Available Schools under welfare schemes. Principal Secretary (Finance) Sandeep Kumar Sultania and other senior officials attended the review.
