Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla calls for voluntary service on Red Cross Day

Hyderabad: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called upon people to participate in voluntary service and blood donation activities on World Red Cross Day.

The Governor said service to humanity should become the ultimate purpose of life.

He stated that helping others gave true meaning to human existence.

The Indian Red Cross Society Telangana Branch organised World Red Cross Day and World Thalassemia Day celebrations at Samskruti Community Hall in Lok Bhavan.

The Governor paid floral tributes to Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross Movement.

Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated a blood donation camp during the programme.

He also distributed certificates to blood donors for their contribution.

World Red Cross Day programme highlights humanitarian service

The Governor distributed nutrition kits to children suffering from thalassemia and interacted with their families.

Addressing the gathering, he said this year’s theme, “United in Humanity,” reflected society’s responsibility towards people facing hardship.

He stated that the Indian Red Cross Society had continued humanitarian service since 1920.

The organisation conducts blood donation drives, health camps and disaster relief programmes.

The Governor praised children battling thalassemia and described their courage as an inspiration to society.

He also appreciated parents of thalassemia patients and called them silent heroes.

Shiv Pratap Shukla stated that CSR support had strengthened healthcare outreach and blood donation awareness in rural areas.

He urged citizens to promote compassion, unity and humanitarian values through voluntary service.

The Governor also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “TB Mukt Bharat” campaign.

Governor’s Special Chief Secretary M Dana Kishore announced a Red Cross membership drive from May 15 to June 15 across Telangana.

Meanwhile, Krishna Sai International Charitable Trust donated ₹4 lakh to the Red Cross Society during the programme.
