Hyderabad: Telangana EAGLE Force uncovered an international hydroponic cannabis smuggling network that allegedly transported narcotics from Thailand into India through multiple airports.
The investigation began after customs officials intercepted a passenger at Hyderabad airport with more than 13 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis.
Subsequently, investigators traced a wider network operating across Thailand, Mumbai, Gujarat, Hyderabad and several other locations.
Police said the syndicate used a structured network of carriers to transport the contraband while attempting to evade detection by law enforcement agencies.
Hydroponic cannabis smuggling network spanned multiple cities
Investigators found that the network allegedly relied on hundreds of carriers to move narcotics into India.
According to police, the accused routed proceeds from the illegal trade through hawala channels.
The investigation revealed links between operatives in different states as well as overseas contacts.
As a result, authorities launched coordinated efforts to identify all individuals involved in the operation.
Police arrested several suspects during the investigation. Meanwhile, teams continue efforts to trace and apprehend the remaining accused.
Hydroponic cannabis smuggling probe continues
Officials said the objective of the operation was not only to arrest the accused but also to dismantle the entire trafficking network.
Furthermore, investigators are examining financial transactions and communication records linked to the syndicate.
Following the bust, police issued a public advisory against drug abuse and narcotics consumption.
They stressed that cannabis should not replace proper medical treatment and urged people to rely on scientifically proven healthcare options.
Police also appealed to professionals, including software employees, doctors, businesspersons, sportspersons and film industry members, to promote healthy lifestyles and remain role models for society.
In addition, officials advised young people to stay away from drugs, alcohol and harmful substances. They urged students to focus on education, sports and personal development.
Police warned that substance abuse could damage health, affect future opportunities and lead to legal consequences.
