Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma presented mementoes and certificates of appreciation to directors, producers, actors and delegates from regional language films at Prasads IMAX Theatre on Friday. The ceremony formed part of the Telangana film festival held under the Telangana–North East Film Festivals banner. Moreover, the event highlighted cultural exchange between the two regions.
Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said cinema crosses cultural borders. Additionally, he noted that Telangana offers heritage sites and varied natural landscapes that support film production. He also said the state government will assist any team that chooses Telangana for its projects.
Telangana film festival highlights state’s strengths
The minister said Telugu cinema has gained global attention. It now competes with Hollywood and has earned major international awards, including the Oscars. Furthermore, he pointed out that Hyderabad hosts world-class studios and modern production facilities that attract filmmakers from across India. He urged North Eastern teams to pick Telangana for their next projects and promised full state support.
During the ceremony, officials exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding between the Assam State Film Development Corporation and the Telangana State Film Development Corporation. Telangana FDC Managing Director C.H. Priyanka and Assam FDC representatives completed the exchange in the presence of the Governor.
Several senior officials attended the event, including TGFDC Chairman Dil Raju, Assam Additional Chief Secretary Dr B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, Sikkim FDC Chairman Simanta Sekhar, Principal Secretary Dana Kishore, Assam FDC Managing Director Prashant Barua and Telangana FDC Executive Director Kishore Babu.
