Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said Congress senior leaders and long-serving workers would receive priority in party-related posts across the erstwhile Medak district.
Mahesh Kumar Goud, an MLC, addressed the united Medak Political Affairs Committee meeting. DCC president Anjaneyulu Goud chaired the meeting.
State Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha and TPCC Working President Jagga Reddy attended the meeting. MLA Mynampally Rohith, DCC president Pujala Harikrishna and former minister Chandrasekhar Rao also took part.
Several Congress public representatives, senior leaders and party workers participated. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the party understood the concerns of its workers. He also asserted that Medak would become a Congress stronghold.
Congress senior leaders to receive priority in posts
The TPCC chief said the party would reward workers who had worked hard by giving them posts in societies. Moreover, long-serving party members would receive preference in appointments.
He said the party would allocate more than 70 per cent of posts to old and loyal Congress workers. Senior leaders would get first preference in market, society, temple and library posts.
However, Mahesh Kumar Goud warned party members against crossing limits while making public statements. He said Congress gave its members greater freedom, but would not tolerate remarks that crossed acceptable limits.
Turning to the Special Intensive Revision exercise, he said Congress had worked intensively to protect every eligible poor citizen’s vote.
He alleged that attempts were underway to remove voting rights by invoking a “2002 condition.” Therefore, he urged everyone who received notices to submit the required details and protect their votes.
Congress senior leaders hear criticism of BJP over jobs
Mahesh Kumar Goud also targeted the BJP-led Union government over employment. Addressing BJP leader Raghunandan directly, he asked how many jobs the Centre had created.
He alleged that the Centre had failed to create enough employment. Instead, he claimed that people faced the risk of losing existing jobs. The TPCC president also described the “Gen Z movement” as a slap in the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Mahesh Kumar Goud, people no longer believed politics based on religion and caste. He said young people were asking governments where the promised jobs were.
He claimed voters would send Modi home whenever elections took place. Furthermore, he predicted that Congress would return to power in Telangana with 100 seats. Mahesh Kumar Goud said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would lead the party to that victory.
Congress senior leaders back welfare agenda
The TPCC chief said the Congress government was providing houses fairly to every eligible poor person. He said no poor person in Telangana should remain without a house.
He also claimed that the government’s development and welfare programmes would surprise the country. In addition, he said the government was making healthcare more accessible to poor people.
Mahesh Kumar Goud then accused political opponents of spreading false claims through social media. He specifically targeted BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao over his reliance on social media.
Using a Telugu proverb about someone wielding a sword eventually falling to it, he attacked KTR’s political strategy. He claimed KTR would similarly get swept away by the social media environment he relied upon. The TPCC president also criticised the BRS over its treatment of Dalit leaders.
He referred to the BRS government’s removal of a Dalit leader from the Deputy Chief Minister’s post at midnight. Mahesh Kumar Goud cited the episode while contrasting the political cultures of Congress and BRS.
Meanwhile, he questioned whether BJP leaders had the courage to openly challenge Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.
Mahesh Kumar Goud said Congress allowed greater freedom within the party. However, he reiterated that leaders still had to respect organisational discipline.
He concluded his political remarks by claiming that people remained happy with the Congress Praja Palana government in Telangana.
