Hyderabad: Police arrested builder Syed Sajid in connection with the Anjaiah Nagar building collapse in Gachibowli that killed two workers on Saturday.
Police caught Sajid at Shamshabad airport while he was allegedly attempting to leave the country. Subsequently, they took him into custody for questioning over the fatal collapse.
The Anjaiah Nagar building had been constructed as a ground-plus-six-floor structure without any municipal permissions. However, the structure suddenly collapsed on Saturday following what authorities described as substandard construction.
Two workers trapped under the debris died in the incident. They were identified as Umesh Khare, 45, and Mohpal Bhalavi, 46, both from Madhya Pradesh.

Authorities completed postmortem examinations on the bodies of the two workers. Subsequently, officials handed over the bodies to their family members.
Police were questioning Sajid over the construction and circumstances surrounding the collapse. Meanwhile, investigators were searching for contractor Khaja in connection with the case.
The building collapse came after the G+6 structure had been raised without municipal approvals. Police continued their investigation into the roles of the owner and contractor following the deaths of the two workers.
