Centre delays Indiramma Housing Scheme funds, says Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the Telangana government was still awaiting the Central government’s share of funds for the Indiramma Housing Scheme.

He said the Centre had not released nearly ₹1.13 lakh per house since March this year. As a result, final bill payments to beneficiaries under the scheme were withheld.

During an informal interaction with the media on Saturday, the Minister said the State government expected the pending contribution from the Centre before releasing the final payments.

He also stated that the Centre had not approved any rural housing projects so far.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said both he and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had repeatedly requested the Central government to release the pending funds.

Indiramma Housing Scheme funds may be released by state

The Minister said ₹1.60 lakh payments for completed houses were currently on hold. However, he added that the State government would directly release the funds if the Centre failed to respond within 15 to 20 days.

He noted that more than 3.5 lakh houses were sanctioned during the first phase of the scheme in Telangana.

According to the Minister, around 1.32 lakh houses had already been completed. He also said slab construction for nearly 68,000 to 72,000 houses would likely finish by the end of June.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would launch the second phase of the housing scheme in Adilabad on June 2.

He said incentives would be offered during the sanction process in the new phase. Houses would also be approved for structures at different stages of construction, including wall stage, basement level and those without roof slabs.

Indiramma Housing Scheme funds issue to be discussed in Cabinet

The Minister said the Cabinet meeting scheduled for May 21 would decide constituency-wise allocation of houses.

He added that the government recently held extensive discussions on revenue, housing, stamps and registration matters across former Telangana districts.

According to him, officials collected feedback from local representatives and resolved several pending issues.

The Minister also addressed land border disputes involving revenue forests. He said the government would begin a joint survey to resolve those disputes.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said 70 revenue villages in every district would be identified for a comprehensive survey programme.

He further stated that tenders were issued for new registration software to address server-related problems. The project was finalised at around ₹14.08 crore and was expected to resolve the issue within three to four months.
