Hyderabad: Union Secretary Sudhansh Pant assured full support for Telangana welfare initiatives after reviewing schemes and meeting state officials on Monday.
He visited Hyderabad to assess programmes implemented at the grassroots level. The review covered schemes for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, persons with disabilities, and transgender communities.
Earlier, he met Welfare Minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat. The Minister presented a detailed overview of Telangana welfare initiatives across multiple sectors.
He said the government prioritised welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He added that a structured approach ensured development of SCs, STs, BCs, minorities, persons with disabilities, transgender persons, and senior citizens.
Telangana welfare initiatives receive Centre backing
Lakshman Kumar sought continued cooperation from the Centre to strengthen Telangana welfare initiatives. He requested support for expanding innovative programmes.
In response, Sudhansh Pant assured that the Union government would extend assistance to state proposals. He said additional support would be considered for effective implementation.
Later, the Union Secretary visited welfare facilities at Masab Tank. These included a Day Care Centre, an Old Age Home, and de-addiction centres.
He reviewed infrastructure and interacted with beneficiaries during the visit. He expressed satisfaction with services for senior citizens and management of the centres.
Sudhansh Pant also praised targeted efforts for the transgender community. He noted initiatives in skill development, livelihood generation, and specialised training such as car driving.
He indicated that further Central assistance could be provided if required. The visit highlighted coordination between the Centre and the State in strengthening welfare delivery.
