Hyderabad: Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar chose service over celebration this New Year’s Day, opting for an old age home visit in Karkhana. Senior officers of the Hyderabad City Police accompanied him during the visit.
Sajjanar urges families to care for parents at home
During CP Sajjanar’s old age home visit at the RK Foundation’s care and health centre, forty-eight older residents received fruits, sweets, and New Year greetings directly from the police team. After cutting a New Year cake, officers interacted with the residents to understand their well-being.
Sajjanar also met veteran actress Pavala Shyamala, who recently joined the centre thanks to ACP Ramesh of Tirumalagiri. He praised Ramesh for his compassionate initiative and inquired about the actress’s recovery.
Commending Dr. Ramakrishna, founder of RK Foundation, the Commissioner highlighted the foundation’s work in providing free healthcare to over 15,000 older persons over the past 18 years.
“Parents are not a burden; they are our duty,” Sajjanar said during his old age home visit, emphasizing that no professional or personal pressure should become an excuse to place ageing parents in shelters. “They don’t need wealth in old age. They need warmth,” he added.
He appealed to society to create a future without old age homes. Furthermore, he urged children to show affection and dignity toward their parents, treating them not as obligations but as blessings, reiterating his commitment post CP Sajjanar’s old age home visit.
North Zone DCP Rashmi Perumal, Additional DCP Ashok, ACP Ramesh, and Inspector Anuradha of Karkhana also attended the programme, contributing to CP Sajjanar’s significant old age home visit.
