Hyderabad: Hyderabad North Zone Police cracked two major servant theft cases reported at Karkhana and Bollarum police stations, recovering stolen valuables worth ₹31 lakh. The seized property included gold ornaments, gold biscuits, and silver articles.
In both incidents, domestic workers took advantage of their employers’ trust and committed thefts over a period of time. Police arrested three accused and recovered large quantities of gold and silver.
Maid, husband held in Karkhana jewellery theft
In the first case, jewellery businessman Gajawada Sridhar, 52, from Bowenpally, filed a complaint at Karkhana Police Station. He reported that gold ornaments and biscuits had gone missing from his home.
Following his complaint, police registered Cr.No. 215/2025 U/s 306 r/w 3(5) BNS and began questioning the maid and her husband. The investigation led to the arrest of:
- A1: Uragadda Madhavi, 35, maid servant
- A2: Uragadda Krishnaiah, 40, driver
(Both from Lakkapalli village, Narayanpet district)
Police recovered 24.2 tulas of gold, including ornaments and melted gold that the accused had converted into jewellery for personal use. They confessed to the thefts during interrogation. Authorities remanded them to judicial custody on December 15.
Inspector B. Anuradha and her team, including DSI N. Lakhan Raj and several constables, played a key role in cracking the case.
Bollarum maid arrested for stealing gold and silver
In a separate case, Bollarum Police arrested a domestic worker for stealing jewellery from her employer’s residence. On December 13, Yellu Sujatha, 53, of Dovton Road, reported that gold and silver items stored in her almirah had gone missing.
Police registered Cr.No. 200/2025 U/s 306 BNS and questioned maid Sindhu Jah, who had started working at the house in July. The accused was identified as:

Jajala Sindhu alias Chinnari, wife of Jajala Vinod Kumar, resident of Kowdpally, Medak
Investigators recovered a 5.1-tula gold necklace, a 2-tula melted gold piece, and silver articles weighing 61 tulas. The stolen property was returned to the complainant. Inspector K. Ravi Kumar and his team solved the case quickly.
Police advisory on hiring domestic help
Hyderabad City Police urged residents to conduct thorough background checks before hiring domestic staff. They also advised homeowners to keep valuables securely locked and to immediately report any suspicious activity by calling Dial-100.
