Hyderabad: BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju on Monday alleged that an Oilfed land transfer would benefit private real estate interests in Hyderabad. He demanded that the Congress government immediately withdraw orders that he claimed facilitated the proposed transfer.
Dasoju inspected Oilfed land and the palm oil stock point at RTC X Roads before addressing the media. Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh and Musheerabad youth leader Jai Simha joined him.
Former Oilfed chairman Ramakrishna Reddy and Oilfed Farmers Association president Uma Maheshwar Reddy also participated. Association secretary Pullayya and Telangana Rythu Sangam State General Secretary Sagar were also present.
Dasoju claimed palm oil cultivation had covered around 30,000 acres before Telangana’s formation. He said it later expanded to nearly 2.5 lakh acres under the BRS government. He attributed the expansion to farmer incentives, check dams and irrigation programmes.
According to Dasoju, the then KCR government provided Rs 10 crore in 2014 for a palm oil mill at Aswaraopeta. He said National Dairy Development Board funding also supported the project. He further claimed Oilfed had a surplus of about Rs 370 crore when the BRS government left office.
Oilfed land transfer dispute dates back decades
Dasoju said the dispute involved 17,261 square yards in the Azamabad Industrial Area. He said the land was allotted to Dayaram Surajmal Lahoti Oil Mills in 1954. According to him, authorities later cancelled the lease after the allottee allegedly failed to meet production targets. He also alleged that the property had been sub-leased.
Dasoju cited a 1987 Supreme Court verdict and subsequent government orders concerning the property. He claimed these established government and Oilfed rights over about 15,983 square yards.
He alleged that GO Ms. No. 366 subsequently sought to revive the earlier arrangement. However, he said the BRS government later issued notices questioning that order’s validity. Dasoju alleged that the Congress government issued GO Ms. No. 85 on May 22, 2026. He claimed it paved the way for an Oilfed land transfer involving nearly 17,000 square yards.
He estimated the land’s value at Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per square yard. Dasoju questioned the proposed transfer while pointing to major real estate developments nearby. He also referred to reports concerning visits to the area by members of the Chief Minister’s family.
However, he demanded that the government clarify whether any family members had a role in the matter. Dasoju also alleged that Oilfed faced difficulties in supplying palm oil saplings to farmers. In addition, he said three proposed mills remained pending.
He referred to BRS senior leader T. Harish Rao’s earlier criticism of the alleged land transaction. Rao had alleged that government land worth around Rs 8,500 crore was being transferred for Rs 87 crore.
Dasoju demanded the immediate withdrawal of GO 85 and GO 366. He also insisted that the land remain under Oilfed’s control. He said the property should be used exclusively to serve farmers’ interests.
Dasoju further demanded disclosure of the proposed land allocation beneficiaries. He also sought clarification about the alleged role, if any, of members of the Chief Minister’s family.
